Sydney: Within easy walking distance you will find four of Sydney's most popular historic sites:

"Cossit House" circa 1785, 75 Charlotte St.
The oldest house in Sydney stands much as it did when the colony's Anglican garrison chaplain, Rev. Rana Cossitt, his wife Thankful and their 11 children built it. This site features costumed guides and 18th century furniture.

"Jost House" circa 1785, 54 Charlotte St. Once the home of a prominent merchant, this building shows the evolution of a wooden dwelling over two centuries.

"St.Patrick's" circa 1828, 87 Esplanade. Sydney's oldest Roman Catholic Church and now a museum featuring local memorabilia. This is also the site of an old burial ground.

"Lyceum" circa 1904, 225 George St. An opera house worthy of Sydney's heyday, it now houses the Cape Breton Centre for Heritage and Science, A Museum and Gift Shop.

"Sydney Harbour and Boardwalk"
Enjoy an evening stroll by the waters edge on Sydney's Harbour Boardwalk, located just 4 block from Ann's Victorian Bed and Breakfast.

Louisbourg - 30 minute drive:

Visit the "Fortress of Louisbourg" . A world class historical reconstruction of a town and Fortress from 250 year ago. Costumed animators re-create the lives and activities of fortress residents from 1744.

Take time to see the "Louisbourg Lighthouse" that stands adjacent to the ruins of Canada's oldest lighthouse circa 1734.

A stop off at the "Louisbourg Playhouse" to see a concert and enjoy a bit of celtic music, in a unique 17th century Elizabethan-style theater is a must.

Glace Bay - 30 minute drive:

At the " Oceans Deeps Colliery" , put on a hardhat and protective clothing and go down into a real coal mine with a retired miner. Then visit the "Miners Village" that features a company store, home the the period 1850-1900, and a restaurant serving authentic Cape Breton meals.

Experience Marconi Museum, learn about Canada's first trans Atlantic transmission of the wireless.

Take in a Show at the famous Savoy Theature.
